Operation
Supporting ranching and reseeding initiatives
The goal of this operation is to develop ranching activities with high added-value species along with initiatives to reseed lagoons with fish and invertebrates by making the technical and legal aspects more secure. This operation has a dual goal of managing resources though reseeding to replenish or maintain fisheries stocks and creating economic activities at the level of biological material producers and coast zone operators.
Communities of practice in the region will be mobilised on the ranching and sea cucumbers theme (SPC, Australia, NACA, Japan).
3 actions

- Use an original approach to deal with the problems of social acceptability and public maritime domain occupancy brought about the development of the aquaculture and sea ranching sector in New Caledonia and French Polynesia and jointly build suitable solutions. This work will involve a group of stakeholders from the research world, territorial government agencies and private sector, in the form of a multi-stakeholder collaborative effort based on a ComMod (Companion modelling) approach.
- Assess the risks of introducing new populations and genitors taken from other sites (genetic pollution, etc.)
