Developing and transferring organic-agriculture-friendly biological pest and weed control measures

This operation is designed to acquire, consolidate and transfer knowledge and non-chemical techniques and companion plant practices on protecting crops and controlling weeds, particular for pineapple farming. It is necessary to combine agricultural, prophylactic, and physical approaches and to increase functional biodiversity in order to achieve integrated management of biological pests and weeds. The regional component will help pool knowledge about such practices, which are of varying degrees of interest depending on the context. However, these agroecological drivers do have one thing in common, i.e. a systemic approach that makes sharing and experimentation between the territories relevant. Finally, non-chemical weed control is the major hurdle to organic certification in a number of sectors in the three territories .
