Operation
Setting up a regional coconut-tree conservatory network
This operation is designed to preserve biodiversity and local coconut tree species and to diversify the varieties used to respond to the different needs of producers. Networking conservatory staff will facilitate feedback and mobilisation of a pool of expertise on identifying varieties and ways to implement on-site conservation.
4 actions
This action is designed to survey, identify, geolocate and describe the various coconut tree varieties throughout French Polynesia, the islands of Wallis and Futuna, and New Caledonia
The goal of this action is to identify plots that could host varieties from conservatories and local partners who could take care of them (islanders, associations)
The goal of this action is to set up conservatories of the most interesting varieties on the isolated plots/small islands identified
This action targets promoting feedback between stakeholders in the three OCTs on setting up conservatories and pooling use of international and regional consultants.
