Operation
Formulating coconut sector strategies
The goal of this operation is to develop coconut plantation management plans in each territory based on an assessment of the status of coconut plantations and added-value sectors (copra, wood, food products, etc.) The goals of such plans, developed with social and economic stakeholders, are to improve copra producers’ livelihoods by formulating programmes to regenerate, promote and disseminate new and/or traditional varieties, diversify coconut products and by-products and integrate new types of production into coconut plantations.
4 actions

• List cultural and social uses
• List the various sectors and support for initiatives to market coconut-plantation products in the different territories
• Analyse the sectors’ potential in a view to diversification, increased income and reduced dependence on public support
