Beekeeping know-how and organoleptic analysis

The CARI of Belgium and the Centre for the Promotion of Beekeeping (CPA) of New Caledonia are on duty travel in French Polynesia as part of the European programme PROTEGE. The agenda included meetings on the beekeeping sector and discussions on the development of Polynesian honeys with the stakeholders in the sector (DAG, GDSA, CFPPA, associations, etc.).

Following the analysis (physico-chemical, organoleptic and pollen) of honey samples from the 5 archipelagos of French Polynesia at the CARI laboratory (Belgium), Etienne Bruneau (CARI) and Romain Gueyte (CPA) presented the results with the Department of Agriculture (DAG) and led workshops related to beekeeping know-how with professional beekeepers in Tahiti, Raiatea, Tahaa and Rangiroa

At the Agricultural Fair, where the DAG also had a stand, they ran a workshop on organoleptic analysis and took part in the "Dark and light honeys" competition organised by the Chamber of Agriculture and Fishing of the lagoon (CAPL) in collaboration with the DAG.
