The food system Strategic Steering Committee (COPIL)

Strengthening sustainable food systems in the European Pacific overseas and territories (OCT)

PROTEGE aims at providing a framework to support the structuration of the OCTs food system. In a global warming context, the final purpose is to increase the production of healthy, nutritious and local products and make them accessible to as many people as possible for a healthy diet. Altogether, the populations must be able to keep their living space while natural resources must be protected.

In accordance, the Steering Committee was held in February. The European Union, The OCT Territorial Authorising Officers of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna and the in-country leaders, namely CAP-NC, ADECAL Technopole, DAG, DRM and DSA, attended the meeting.

The committee enabled to:
- Share and discuss the common issues

- Present the issues arising from the diagnoses carried out beforehand in each territory

- Provide consortium's recommendations based on:

The common food policies, initiatives and tools.

The opportunities of cooperation amongst the OCTs

More information: launch of a call for projects

The European Pacific overseas countries and territories wish to support structuring projects in order to improve their foods systems. Therefore, a call for projects will soon be launched by the Pacific Community (SPC) with the purpose of supporting initiatives promoting healthy and sustainable food in a spirit of regional cooperation.
