Cooperation between Pacific ACP countries and OCTs, ahead of the regional seminar on the sustainability of Pacific food systems

Co-organized by the Pacific Community and French Polynesia, as part of the PROTEGE project funded by the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), the regional seminar will be held from Monday October 2 to Friday October 6, 2023, in Papeete.

Food security and food systems in the Pacific are threatened by the effects of climate change and general inflation. Considering that this situation will have more serious consequences for our region if it is not managed now in an integrated way, the Pacific Community has responded to French Polynesia's request to organize a regional seminar on the sustainability of food systems.

Ahead of the seminar (September 28-30), a smaller group including representatives from the Kiribati Islands and CSIRO visited two Tuamotu atolls (Rangiroa and Tikehau) to present the programs run by French Polynesia to promote food security on the atolls. This trip is intended to lay the foundations for cooperation between atoll countries and territories.
