Mission accomplished: Creating awareness of invasive exotic species – DIREN news
The energetic PROTEGE team from French Polynesia’s Department of the Environment raises awareness among a new class at the Puohine school about the UNESCO Taputapuātea Cultural Landscape.
Laetitia and Vainehu, the two in-country lead facilitators of Taputapuātea Cultural Landscape, taught to children how to differentiate an invasive species from a local species, the mechanisms of dispersion and to understand why it is so important to preserve their natural heritage.
For the occasion, heritage plants were offered: Miro, Tamanu, Tou and Pua.
Congratulations to the DIREN teams and thanks to the teachers and all the children.
