 - 10 May 2021

Consult the documentation produced by the Wilderness Conservation Agency of New Caledonia and its partners.

Members and partners of the Wilderness Conservation Agency are pleased to announce the release of new useful documents to strengthen the prevention and control of new animal and plant invading species:

Discover the 7 illustrated posters and 7 useful guides specific to the 7 main islands of New Caledonia, for all Caledonians and travelers to detect and report exotic species posing a threat to the territory;

> Illustrated posters and useful guides available to all audiences, for the entire territory HERE

> A more technical guide for experts HERE

In addition to the biosecurity and monitoring system already in place, these posters and guides help raising awareness of all Caledonians on a selection of exotic species presenting a risk to the environment and to better detect and report these new invaders, on each main island of the territory: Grande Terre, Bélep, Ouvéa, Lifou, Tiga, Maré and Isle of Pines.

The species listed, are mostly absent from the territory but some have already been detected and eliminated, and others are present but still concentrated on some of the islands.

How do I report ?

To report any species at risk, identified or simply suspicious, contact the Watch Cell on 75 30 69, via the CEN Facebook page (@CEN. New Caledonia) or via a specific interface on the CEN website: https://www.cen.nc/web/cen/signaler.

Regional cooperation in the Pacific - OCT :

Regarding the theme "invasive alien species (IAS)" of the PROTEGE programme, these documents can be useful to the actors of French Polynesia as well as Wallis and Futuna in a broader context of the IAS animals and plants control.

The feral pig appears in posters and guides relating to Bélep, Isle of Pines, Ouvéa and Tiga.
