Tender process – Assessment of Economic weight of the professional coastal fishing sector

As part of PROTEGE actions carried out through the New Caledonian Coastal Fisheries Observatory, ADECAL Technopole is launching a call for proposals for a study to assess the economic weight of coastal fishing in New Caledonia.

Main objective:

Quantify the direct and non-direct socio-economic impacts of coastal professional fishing activities in New Caledonia, on a province, main trades, and major category of targeted species basis.

Sub-objectives:

- To develop a method to achieve the main objective by identifying and exploiting all existing sources of information.

- Identify "gaps" or sectors of activity where information is not available or incomplete and make recommendations to improve data collection. This, in order to facilitate the collection and processing of information and, in the future, to better update the socio-economic weight of the coastal fishing sector.

- To identify the links between the actors, to quantify the monetary flows and the number of jobs created by the fishing activity.

Spatial frame: The study will be conducted on the whole territory of New Caledonia, and a provincial basis.

Temporal frame:

The study will concern the available data from 2020 coupled with the results of the surveys that will be carried out in 2022.
