First annual report of the coastal fisheries observatory (OPC) - Wallis and Futuna

Supported by the PROTEGE program, the fisheries observatory was created within the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Services. The OPC has great ambitions for the years to come and reveals the results of its first work on inshore fisheries in Wallis and Futuna in its first activity report 2021.

Here is the first annual report of the Wallis and Futuna coastal fisheries observatory. How has fishing evolved in Wallis and Futuna in recent years? What is professional fishing? What is the state of the resource? What benefits does fishing generate? Is it possible to live decently from fishing?

These questions are essential to inform public policies and guarantee sustainable exploitation of marine resources. Therefore Wallis & Futuna delivers today its very first activity report.
