First analysis as part of the Coastal Fisheries Observatory

As part of the Coastal Fisheries Observatory of New Caledonia funded by PROTEGE, 10 species of commercial interest were targeted to determine their size at first sexual maturity.

The first analysis took place on bluespine unicornfish, coral trout and yellow and blue peck. Otoliths (bones of the inner ear) are also taken to determine the age of individuals.

This activity is carried out in partnership between SPC (FAME division and CCES), the South Province and ADECAL-Technopole.
