Field mission for fish waste recycling in Rangiroa

The Division of Marine Resources (DRM) visited Rangiroa at the beginning of July to study the feasibility of a project to recycle fish waste in agriculture (fertilizer, compost, food).

Thus, the DRM was able to discuss the situation with professionals (processors and farmers), with the Directorate of agriculture and with the municipality to assess the situation.

All the stakeholders are convinced of the project, but the roles remain to be determined and the support of the DRM and the DAG to be formalised in the framework of the PROTEGE programme, funded by the 11th EDF.

This activity highlights the cross-sectoral work between the two themes of PROTEGE relating to agriculture and forestry as well as coastal fishing and aquaculture.
