Consultations with fishermen – Wallis and Futuna

Participative fisheries management

In order to enable sustainable management of marine resources, consultations with fishermen are currently being carried out in Wallis and Futuna.

The aim is to gather fishermen's opinions on the resource and discuss fishing practices in order to find solutions to the problems identified.

The diagnosis will be shared next November in the framework of the "Sustainable Fishing Fridays" to then establish a concerted intervention strategy adapted to the challenges of the territory.

This participative management action is carried out by the territory's Fishing Department within the framework of the PROTEGE program.
