Fish waste recovery into fertilizer

Mission to Rangiroa – French Polynesia

The Marine Resources Department (DRM) travelled to Rangiroa in order to introduce the service provider in charge of conducting the feasibility study for the project to use fish waste as fertilizer on the island.

Fishermen, processors and farmers have reiterated their interest in the project.

The French Polynesia Agriculture Department(DAG), the municipality and the DRM will support the project to provide a turnkey and viable project on technical, administrative and financial aspects.

This project of fish waste recovery into fertilizer allows a transversality between the theme 1, Agriculture, and the theme 2, Fishing and aquaculture of PROTEGE.

The next meeting on the island is scheduled for mid-June for the presentation of the results of the study and the launch of the call for applications that will select the project leader.
