Syntropic agroforestry training in French Polynesia

Through PROTEGE, the French Committee of the IUCN organized a training on syntropical agroforestry in Moorea in French Polynesia.

Carried out on site by the Agir NC association, this training enabled farmers from French Polynesia and New Caledonia to meet in order to learn and exchange on syntropic agroforestry techniques.

This method of production with low water consumption and without chemical inputs, contributes to achieving food self-sufficiency, while preserving and promoting biodiversity (soil, flora, insects, etc.) and water resources. This method is a solution for the adaptation of island populations to the effects of climate change.

This training was supported by the Direction of Agriculture of French Polynesia through the atolls water management action of PROTEGE.
