International Coconut Day in French Polynesia 2020
Event organised by the Direction of Agriculture of French Polynesia
The coconut tree is one of the most versatile products nature has to offer.
In French Polynesia, the different parts of the coconut tree are used for eating, drinking and in handicrafts. They are also found in cosmetics, care, construction and even in the production of thermal and electrical energy.
In addition to being a source of income for many Polynesians through copra, the coconut tree is an integral part of the country's agriculture.
Find more information on the coconut tree and how to protect it on the website of the Direction of Agriculture of French Polynesia (DAG) :
This operation was carried out with the contribution of the PROTEGE programme (11th regional EDF) funded by the European Union.
