Wallis and Futuna conduct an invasive species eradication operation
Eradication operation: American Agave
PROTEGE supports the Territorial Environment Service of Wallis and Futuna in the fight against invasive species.
American agaves represent a major risk to biodiversity. The Territorial Environment Service of Wallis and Futuna has removed more than 132 agaves and 700 seedlings at Mount Lulu, which is one of the key biodiversity areas of the territory.
Regular monitoring is now ongoing to ensure that no agave grows back on this site.
