Ouvéa, coconut industry stakeholders in New Caledonia gather around the Pacific tree of life.

Following the Strategic Orientation Committee organized by the New Caledonian Chamber of Agriculture (CANC), the coconut industry stakeholders have gathered in Ouvéa on Monday the 29th of June.

The objectives were : 
-    prioritize the implementation of the recommendations issued at the regional workshop in French Polynesia in November of last year,

-    develop an action plan for the Loyalty Islands and particularly Ouvéa,
-    set a work timeline with the industry partners.

The action plan focuses on knowledge and potential of the coconut industry, production and promotion of coconut wood, regeneration of coconut grove through agroforestry integration, varieties inventory and conservation, biological control ( Brontispa…),  or market diversification (virgin coconut oil for food related purposes and cosmetic use).
