Report on the Agroforestry Workshop PROTEGE

The regional Agroforestry workshop organized by the PROTEGE project and its partners PIFON, POETCom, and AGIR NC brought together more than 60 participants in Fidji and about fifteen in Nouméa from August 26 to 30, 2024.

Funded under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) regional program and aligned with the regional cooperation objective of the project between the OCTs (Overseas Countries and Territories) and the Pacific region countries, this workshop marked the conclusion of five years of agroforestry experimentation in the Pacific.

Agroforestry: A Solution to Climate Change Challenges

Agroforestry is an effective response to combat the impacts of climate change by promoting sustainable and resilient agriculture, tailored to the pedo-climatic conditions of the Pacific territories. As such, agroforestry helps improve food security.

The workshop capitalization report is available.

The main objective of this workshop was to share and capitalize on the knowledge produced, with the aim of identifying the tools and levers needed to scale up agroforestry systems.
